E3 2012: Sony Press Conference Impressions
Rounding out the first day at E3, we have Sony strutting their stuff like they are still top of the world. Even though they are far from it, we can't blame them from wanting to act the part.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for the PS Vita and PS3 is still just another Smash Bros. clone. You can give it new characters and new visuals, but it is still going to be one in everyone's eyes. The way you can play with others online regardless of which system they are is a nice feature since Vita players may have difficulty finding someone who has the game, since so few own a Vita. Drake and Mr Bubbles has also been announced as characters. Little Big Planet 2 will be cross controller compatible via DLC so players can use their Vita to control the game for some added features.
Vita is getting a few new games too. An Assassin's Creed III spin-off, and as you would expect, plays very similar to the main game, only with less animations and graphics. This will also be the first in the series with a female assassin. Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified is also showing up. Lastly, PS One classics will arrive to give Vita players some hope that they will have something to use the hand held for other than 3 new games.
God of War: Ascension looks and plays just like you would hope it would. It's God of War, so either you will love it or hate it. Last of Us will likely leaving a lasting impression on everyone who watched this conference. Compared to everything else that was shown, this game was like diamonds. This is a true survival game, but with less undead than what most normally have lately. Sony's presentation was still much better than most this year, but still a far cry from Ubisoft's. They are bleeding money right now, so there is a good chance that next year may be more desperate for them if they don't turn things around. Key Points:
